I am endlessly inspired by nature, my work with ceramics and glass demonstrates the fragile and intricate qualities of the often-overlooked natural world around us. I find aesthetic beauty in flora and fauna, and wonder in the delicate balance of the ecosystems they form.

I have always had a passion and awareness for environmental issues. During my time at Plymouth College of Art and through my creative process, I delved deeper into the tragedies that face our planet. Global warming, marine pollution, deforestation and bee decline becoming the key issues that my work focuses around. The ambition of my craft is to inspire a consideration and care, with the pieces I produce using second hand materials whenever possible. In highlighting these problems, I want to show that if we all work together to put an end to harmful behaviours, there is hope for the future.

Using diamond tipped tools I carefully mark the glass to create detailed, illustrative surface detail.

‘The importance of art in raising awareness of conservation issues until

recently, has been widely ignored and underestimated and so we

desperately need more artists like Alice, who are passionate about their

work and able to reach people that scientists and NGOs like ourselves,

simply cannot. Highlighting the beauty and importance of the natural

world, in all its different forms, is the most important step in protecting it

and I believe artwork, whether it an image, painting, sculpture or

glasswork, is much more effective at making an emotional impact, than any

words can be.’
